Day Tripping: Canadian Bucket List Must Do – Visit a Sugar Shack

Check one off your bucket list this month by visiting a sugar shack.

Honestly, how did someone come up with the idea to collect sap from a tree and then boil it down until it turned into sweet nectar? However the story goes, we are grateful for the discovery and grateful that it is finally March – Maple Syrup season!

Maple Syrup festivals are officially kicking-off this weekend across Ontario. Here are a few we’ve chosen to highlight, but there are lots more to be found in the Event List at the end of the newsletter. Note: many of the weekend-only festivals expand their hours to include weekdays during March Break (a collective sigh of relief is heard from parents across Ontario)!

In no particular order (if they’re serving warm maple syrup and pancakes, they are all tops in our opinion), here are some festivals to check out:

Bronte Creek Maple Syrup Festival at Bronte Creek Provincial Park

Mapletowne at Mountsberg Conservation Area

Kinsmen Fanshawe Sugar Bush Maple Festival

McDonalds Corners
Maple Sugar Season at Wheelers Pancake House and Sugar Camp

Sweet Water Demonstrations at Crawford Lake

Fulton’s Spring Maple Harvest Season

Stouffville / Woodbridge
Sugarbush Maple Syrup Festival at Bruce’s Mill & Kortright Conservation Area

All Ontario
Visit the Ontario Maple Syrup Producers website for a full listing.
